I speak as a person, from a context of personal experience and personal learnings. ~ Carl Rogers, From On Becoming A Person
Dr. James DiGloria, Psy.D., CA LMFT #108165 & CO LMFT #1799
Whether it was from the lessons that I learned as a young person on the streets of New York City, to the many adventures that I have embarked on throughout life, and all the while existing as a student of higher learning, being open to the experience of it all has been the one constant. Mix in a great deal of humor with an innate ability to care for something greater than myself, the place in life I now find myself has led to my calling as a therapist.
I have always been fascinated with what it takes to balance life experiences with what it means to be human. The notion that our earliest conditioning and experiences shape the development of the multiple facets of our personality is such an intriguing concept. As a therapist, I believe that looking at the multiplicity of our personalities can lead to an awareness that can be life changing.
Over two-plus decades of working in the field of mental health, I have come to see that everyone has the ability to access this higher level of internal and external awareness. Getting out of our own way at times may seem easier said than done! Or should I say, getting those “parts” of our personality out of the way long enough to access the higher version of ourselves may be a bit more than we imagined. James uses Internal Family Systems (IFS) as his primary approach.
More About James
Over the last two plus decades, I have come to see that none of us are immune to the challenges, obstacles, and difficulties that life throws at us. All the while, remaining curious has allowed me to discover the possibilities of joy, excitement, passion and connection with other people.
However, none of it has been easy. Dare I say, it has been downright the most challenging ride of my life. As a therapist, I want to help you gain access to your true “Self” that each of you already have and help this “Self” be the one guiding the ship.
I have found that my approach allows for an authentic and experiential journey and it is this process that creates lasting and meaningful change. It is with compassion and kindness that I invite each and every person to realize their truest Self and live fully into it. As a therapist, I feel it is the greatest gift to bear witness to this process.
